Ambassador’s Greetings

  1. About the Mission
  2. Ambassador’s Greetings

Karibu Sana(Big Welcome in Swahili) to our Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the United Republic of Tanzania!

Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1992, the Republic of Korea and the United Republic of Tanzania have been developing ever closer relations and broad partnership in many areas.

The relations reached another milestone with the visit by President of Tanzania to Korea in June for 2024 Korea-Africa Summit as well as Korea-Tanzania Summit.  On the latter occasion, Korea signed an EDCF Framework Agreement with Tanzania to provide 2.5 billion dollars over the next five years.  MOUs were also signed to strengthen cooperation on critical minerals and the blue economy.  Furthermore, our two countries will aim for an Economic Partnership Agreement and start negotiations.

For several years the Korean Government has been providing Official Development Assistance to Tanzania across various fields such as water, health, education, rural development, transportation and infrastructure. The Tanzanite Bridge in Dar es Salaam and Muhimbili National Hospital Mloganzil are symbolic of our successful cooperation.  Korean companies are actively participating in Tanzania’s landmark construction projects, including the Standard Gauge Railroad and the Lake Victoria shipbuilding projects.  There is great potential still to be tapped in mutually beneficial cooperation between our two countries.

The Korean Embassy in Dar es Salaam will actively pursue various avenues of mutual cooperation that will improve and bring tangible benefits to the daily lives of our two peoples, enhancing people-to-people exchanges and strengthening mutual understanding and mutual support.

I convey my sincere wishes for health and happiness to all.

Asante Sana! (Thank you very much in Swahili)

Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the United Republic of Tanzania Ahn, Eun Ju
